As a Lab Manager you will be setting up a lab and supervising lab activities where experimental, development and manufacturing work takes place for our semiconductor metrology systems. Your activities and responsibilities will contain:

Sample and hardware management, such as registration and management of:

- Test samples used for experiments;
- Hardware;
- Software;
- Planning and preparation of the use of hardware resources.

Lab infrastructure management

- Organize and plan experimental set-up layout;
- Organize and plan availability of facilities (e.g. air pressure, power, …) and proper cabling and installation of auxiliary hardware;
- Order infrastructure materials (e.g. computer racks, cable ducts, …);
- Manage and uphold safety regulations and permits;
- Manage cleaning and tidying up the lab;
- Manage the identified required investments (now or future) and make sure these investments are put on the proper investment lists;
- Arrange new lab when necessary.

Access authorization management

- Arranging proper authorization of people to the laboratories;
- Arranging lab-training when needed.

Lab visit management & Support for PR-related activities

- Planning and preparation of requested lab visits;
- Communication with project manager(s) and Scientific lead involved about lab visits;
- Prepare and schedule photoshoots for experimental setups;
- Accompany photographer during photoshoot;
- Aftercare (communication with photographer).

Job requirements

We are looking for a Lab Manager with a passion for setting up and running a lab for semiconductor metrology systems. Who’s not afraid to act proactive and solve the problems he or she  might encounter. Our expectations:

• BSc or MSc in Mechanical engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical engineering or Applied physics, 
• At least 3-5 years working experience in R&D lab environments.
• Familiar and comfortable with the uncertainty that comes with experimental and engineering challenges;
• Good communication skills as well as energy, creativity and a boundless curiosity;
• Convince and inspire colleagues and customers alike;
• Experience in managing suppliers and contractors and structuring activities.
• Good sense of ownership; defend lab interests if things become difficult;
• Self-starting; look for improvements and opportunities.
