What will you do as an NPI Engineer

As an NPI Engineer, you are responsible for introducing new products, modules and product changes into the production organization. You translate designs from R&D into stable, efficient and reproducible assembly and test processes.

You work closely with Development, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality and external suppliers. In this role, you play an important part in further professionalizing and scaling the production environment.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading New Product Introduction projects from prototype to series production
  • Translating product designs into manufacturable and scalable production processes
  • Coordinating pilot builds and first production series
  • Assessing manufacturability, assemblability and testability of new designs
  • Implementing product changes and Engineering Change Orders
  • Optimizing assembly processes, tooling and test setups
  • Creating and maintaining work instructions, bills of materials and product documentation
  • Working with suppliers on the introduction of new components and subassemblies
  • Identifying and solving technical production issues
  • Initiating improvement projects focused on quality, lead time and cost
  • Performing Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly analyses
  • Supporting R&D during development projects
  • Analyzing production and quality data
  • Performing root cause analyses and implementing structural improvements
  • Documenting production and test processes in ERP and PLM systems
  • Supporting supplier qualifications and the introduction of new parts
  • Training assembly employees on new products and processes

Do you recognize yourself in this

  • You have a higher professional or university level of thinking and working
  • You have a technical background, for example in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in NPI, Manufacturing Engineering or Industrialization
  • You have experience with mechatronic products or hightech systems
  • You understand assembly processes, test processes and product introductions
  • You have experience with product changes and configuration management
  • You are familiar with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement
  • You are analytically strong and quality conscious
  • You have a hands-on mentality and strong project skills
  • You communicate clearly and connect easily with different disciplines
  • You work independently, proactively and accurately
